Thanksgiving!
from Pascale
This was the “new" holiday that I embraced with so much joy, a perfect welcome to my new life when I arrived here in the US 35 years ago. Click to enlarge
Gathering around a beautifully decorated table, set with sparkling china and crystal, displaying an abundance of everyone’s specialties, everyone’s best and favorite dishes! To sit down and thank your friends and family for being who they are and for being present by your side on this special day - a wonderful celebration!
I wanted to share two of my favorite appetizers with you that will add elegance to your Thanksgiving dinner and yet are easy to prepare: Endive Boats with Blue Cheese, Beets and Walnuts A light and colorful hors d’oeuvre, the perfect way to open your appetite before a long and elaborate meal! With a fork mash equal parts of whipped cream cheese and a good blue cheese (I prefer Roquefort) left at room temperature to soften a bit. Wash and trim the ends of the separated endives leaves. Pipe in a ribbon of blue cheese mixture and sprinkle tiny cubes of cooked beets, like beautiful rubies! Garnish with a perfect piece of candied or roasted walnut or pecan. Visually beautiful, crisp and delicious! Spiced Pumpkin and Leek Bisque - with a dollop of nutmeg flavored crème fraiche - click to get the recipe. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Enjoy your family, your friends and your pets! Make sure to appreciate all gorgeous food bounty and some good wine! Sante! -Pascale |
